George Vanderkuur, Director of Education

Specialist Physics and Physical Education, Univeristy of Toronto, OCT, Quees University Bachelor of Science, Carleton University and Royal Military College. George Vanderkuur has worked in the field of education for more than 30 years. He has been principal of Toronto Central Academy since 1999 and in addition to his teaching career served as Headmaster of Holy Trinity School, and Chief Scientist and Associate Director General (acting) of the Ontario Science Center.

Tam Huynh, Principal

Tam is passionate about the The Erindale Academy Program because it is designed to help student reach their full potential in a positive and extremely motivational way. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher specializing in Math and Science for juniors and senior students. She has completed BSc from York University and a BEd from Nipissing University. Tam works towards enhancing her students' understanding by adapting to their unique learning styles.

Deborah Vieira, Acting Principal

Deborah Vieira is a Certified Educator registered with the Ontario College of Teachers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Education from University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University. Deborah has educated secondary school students in Visual Arts, English, Drama, Guidance Counselling, and Geography for 30 years with the Peel District School Board, including six years as an Instructional Resource Teacher in Alternative Programs. As a Acting Principal and Guidance Counsellor at The Erindale Academy, Deborah strives to support and inspire students to develop critical and divergent thinking skills in order to attain their life goals.

Philip Desjardins, Vice-Principal & Dean of Students

Philip has a Bachelor of Education and is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers since 1987. He is a graduate of the University of Montreal's Teachers College with additional training in special needs education at McGill University. He is also a certified TESL teacher. In addition to having taught at the secondary school levels in both Quebec and Ontario, Phil was, for many years, the creator of distance education courses and educational films for TvOntario.

Anton Ton, Associate Director of Recruitment

Anton Ton has over 20 years of experience in teaching ESL, Administration, and International Education. He holds a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Curtin University (Australia) and a Master of Education in Administration and Leadership from Brock University (Canada). Being fluent in English and Vietnamese, Anton is working as a school counselor, student advisor, and marketing specialist at TEA. He primarily supports TEA's students both academically and with their personal achievements.

Nancy Ping, Manager of Recruitment

Nancy graduated from the University of Toronto, Canada with a Bachelor of Arts, specializing in studio arts and art history. She was a high school graduate of Toronto Central Academy. As an international student, Nancy understands firsthand what it is like to transition from one educational system and culture to another. Therefore, she is a strong support to our students who are making the transition to Canada. She is a well-known young artist in Toronto whose works won various awards in Ontario Art Exhibitions.

Genesis Serrano, Manager of Recruitment

Genesis has been an International Student Advisor since 2017. She has helped over 1,000 students from different countries to attain the life skills of planning, organizing, goal setting, problem solving, and learning to successful. As a Spanish speaker, graduating from the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana with a bachelor's degree in Business Production, Gensis earned her Diploma in Business Administration with Toronto School of Management. Genesis has the experience and empathy to understand the transition that a person experiences when arriving in a new country.

Genesis is focused on creating and strengthening agreements with the most important agencies in Latin America to help children fulfill their dreams of studying in a Canadian high school.

Liane Laros

Liane Laros is an OCT certified teacher. Liane attended Trent University as part of the Queen's-Trent Concurrent Education program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and English and received her BEd from Queen's University. Liane has spent time teaching secondary students in London, UK where she gained experience in the instruction of ESL learners. Liane aspires to build an appreciation for all types of literature. She strives to help her students to develop their verbal and written critical thinking skills in order to be successful in their future goals.

Hakan Oztunc, Ph.D. in Statistics and Econometrics

Dr. Hakan has a Ph.D. in Statistics and Econometrics. For nearly 6 years he taught math in US to secondary level and for five years he taught math and statistics in Turkey to university students. Dr. Hakan has worked in the field of education for more than 20 years in several countries. In addition to having taught at the secondary school and university levels, he is the author of math and statistics books. The greatest chance of a person is to meet a great teacher when he/she was young."

Maciej Blaszyk, M.Ed., B.A., CELTA

With over 15 years of teaching experience in private, secondary and post-secondary institutions in Canada and abroad, Maciej specializes in EAP, language assessment test preparation and business communication and soft skill training works actively as an educational consultant for local colleges and universities in Toronto.

As the English Coordinator , Maciej overseas students' success in standardized university language proficiency examinations such as IELTS and TOEFL as well as internal college English examinations throughout the country.

Katherine Percival

Katherine Percival is a Certified Educator registered with the Ontario College of Teachers and has been working with students in the arts for 10 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. For the last two years, Katherine has been working with community art institutions to extend the reach of arts educations. Katherine strives to help her students bring creativity into all aspects of their lives and emphasizes the relevance and importance that art plays within our society.

Michelle Johnson

Michelle is a committed educator, helping students to better express themselves through every medium, be it a work of art or a simple conversation. She earned her Hons. B.A. from the University of Toronto in Art and Art History, majoring in photography and painting, and went on to receive a Masters in Modern Art: Critical and Curatorial Studies from Columbia University in the City of New York. Michelle always seeks to teach difficult and complex concepts in a clear and straight forward manner with patience and enthusiasm.

Daryl Bergman

Daryl Bergman is an Ontario Certified teacher for grades 10-12 Social Sciences as well as ESL. He has a B.A. (Geography / International Studies) and a B. Ed. from the University of Toronto. For nearly 12 years he taught ESL in South Korea to secondary level and university students. I have learned that in order to be a great teacher, one has to be an excellent learner. 'A teacher is a learner, and a learner is a teacher'.

Michael Kaszowski

Michael Kaszowski teaches Business, English, and History. He as combined honours degrees in English and History from Western University, and Bachelor's of Education degree from Nipissing University, He has taught at the elementary and secondary school levels including ESL. Don't let others say that you cannot do something. Seek to prove them wrong. Aim higher, push yourself harder, for tomorrow will open doors you never thought possible.

Lawinia Pagliuso

Lawinia Pagliuso is TESL Ontario certified and teaches all levels of ESL. She has a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics and ESL from Georgia State University in the USA as well as Master's and Bachelor's degrees in English and Russian Language and Literature from Adam Mickiewicz University in her home country Poland. Lawinia is TESL Ontario certified. It is very important for me to know that students are comfortable in my class. Happy students are motivated students and such do better and achieve more.

Ella Hou

Ella earned her Bachelor degree in honors of Biochemistry at McMaster University with strong science knowledge-based background and excellent Mathematics application skills. She is well qualified but not limited to teach wide range of senior high school Mathematics including Function, Calculus and Data Management, as well as has much experience on working with groups of students to support them in Chemistry, physics, and biology studies in private schools and tutor centers. Majority of students received a dramatic improvement not only on marks but also the enthusiasm on the studying of related filed.

Kazi Ahmed

Kazi Ahmed teaches Mathematics from Grades 9 to Grade 12. Originally from Bangladesh, he earned a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics at York University. Above all I believe that teaching is not about how much you know, but about how much we can give back to our students, inspiring them to work harder and push through the odds to be the best they can be.

Elizabeth Noble

Elizabeth Noble teaches Social Sciences including Geography and ESL. She is a certified teacher who has taught for over 10 years. She has a Master's Degree in Education, a Masters in Geography from the U of T and a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Guelph. Elizabeth also holds a diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language.

Eric Tigley

Holding credentials as a graduate from the Ontario Institute for Studies of the University of Toronto in Education, and Seneca College'€™s Digital Media Art program, Eric Tigley has spent many years walking a thin line between illustrator/designer, fine artist, and educator. Realizing that these career paths were all related in the realm of communication, Eric pursued a career that incorporated the art of visual interaction and learning. To ensure that this initiative could progress on a social, as well as educational level, Eric co-founded Youth Education through Interactive Arts (YETI), a collective that provides literacy through contemporary art workshops and book publishing. Eric continues to show work in galleries throughout the GTA and is an avid live painter and community organizer.
